Beautiful little Xavier

Just before Christmas, I got to meet little Xavier! Xavier is the precious little brother of Amelia, the sweet little girl I photographed when she was born, just over two years ago.
I just love watching the families I've come to know, grow and flourish over time.
Here are some lifestyle photos taken of little Xavier.

I love this picture....

It was about "minus a gazillion" degrees outside today. Cole and I were bored, so I pulled out the camera and did what I love to do. Took some pictures. This is one of my favorites from today.

Tips for a successful Boudoir Session

First of all, what is a Boudoir?
bou•doir [ boo dwàawr, boo dwàwr ] (plural bou•doirs)
noun
Definition:woman's bedroom: a woman's bedroom or private sitting room
Ok, so now we know what Boudoir means!
From this we may extrapolate a little and imply that Boudoir photography, is photography that makes women look sexy!
Isn’t that a little nerve wracking?
You betcha! But it’s sooooo much fun!
So if you’ve decided to book a boudoir shoot, or even if you’re planning to book one, here are a few tips to help you get ready for your super glamorous shoot!
First of all, if you’re a little nervous, that’s ok. It’s completely normal. Almost everyone is nervous before they do a boudoir shoot. You’re probably thinking, but I’ve got to loose some weight, and I don’t like my stomach, and what if I don’t look sexy but rather look silly?
Well, take a deep breath and try to relax a little. No matter what your size you can be sexy, and even if you did loose a few pounds, you’d probably want to loose a few more.
Professional photographers are trained to hide your flaws, (even when you’re your nearly naked!) with lighting and positioning techniques. A little music, a lot of encouragement and some good old fashioned fun, will make you look completely sexy in no time.
Tip #1. Bring lots of outfits, and props. Bring things that you feel sexy in or that make you feel fabulous. If you know your partner likes something in particular, you may want to include that. Even if it’s something you wouldn’t have thought of for a boudoir shoot. For example, if you’re partner has a cowboy hat, we can find some creative ways of incorporating that into your shoot. Some other ideas are, boas, feathers, rose petals, candles, soft rugs, high heels etc…
Tip #2. When choosing outfits keep your body type in mind. Corsets are terrific for larger waisted women with a fabulous bust! Not busty? How about showing off your middle section or behind?
Tip #3. Be prepared to tell your photographer what you consider to be your sexiest features. Sexy eyes? We’ll make them even sexier. Lips? Bust? Feet? Let us know!
Tip #4. Invest in a tan, or fake tan. If you have the time to tan and aren’t worried about sun damage, bronze skin photographs much nicer and shows less flaws than very white, pale skin. If you want to fake it, I recommend the airbrush tans. (not the ones done in a booth, but rather the ones applied by a person). These give even colour and you can tan your entire body, not having to worry about tan lines.
Tip #5. Shave and moisturize. Shaving usually produces less irritation than waxing. If you must wax make sure you’ve allowed enough time for any red bumps to go down before the shoot. Moisturizing your skin prior to your shoot will make it much sexier, with a hint of shine!
Tip #6. Think about what makes you feel sexy. If perfume makes your feel sexy, wear some. If you have a favorite song that makes you want to “take your hat off”, then bring it along and be prepared to hear it! Does a glass of wine make you feel sexier? Bring it along! (just make sure someone else is there to drive you home, in case you drink too much!).
Tip #7. Moral support. If you feel like you don’t want to be the only one bearing all, see if a friend wants to book a shoot just before or just after yours. Then you’ll have someone to confide in and laugh with!
Tip #8. Practice Sexy. When you’re alone and no one’s likely to see you, practice making a sexy face in the mirror. You’ll quickly realize that you CAN do this, and your confidence will rise!
So hopefully now, you’re ready for one of the most fun, liberating photography sessions in your life! Now go have some FUN!
